Introduction of newly revised Academic Policy: General Education Policy and Procedure

Please be aware of the newly revised General Education (GE) Policy and Procedure which are effective immediately (Fall 2014). As a part of this new policy framework a number of voids have now been addressed, including, key definitions, exemptions, mandated GE courses, criteria for GE courses, and the minimum number of GE courses required per credential (note this is prescribed in the Ministry’s Binding Directive). A communique is also included which describes the changes from the previous to the new policies.  The new Policy entrenches a much needed governance structure to share information and make decisions vis-à-vis the delivery of General Education at Sheridan through the establishment of a Cross-College General Education Committee.  The Committee will meet quarterly and will include a representative from each Academic Faculty and a staff member from various departments within Sheridan (CTL, OTR, Student Services, International).
