Students’ Jazz artwork to be featured at local gallery

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is delighted to announce that students’ creative artwork on the subject of Jazz will be featured in a community art exhibition called The Light of Diversity. The exhibition, sponsored by The Carousel of Nations Multicultural Association, will take place at Oakville’s Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Culture Center from March 13 to April 13.

These original art works are the visual component to a research-based creative assignment in the Degree Breadth elective, Anthropology of Music, taught by Dr. Anna Boshnakova. These creative works are unique interpretations of Jazz that reflect the defining nature of this music as a symbol of human global thought and metaphors for democracy, freedom of expression, and tolerance.

The Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre is located at 2302 Bridge Road in Oakville and is open from 8:30am to 9:30pm (Monday through Friday) and 8am to 5pm (Saturday and Sunday); we hope you will be able to visit the gallery sometime before April 13th to see our students’ unique contribution to this exhibition celebrating the cultural diversity of Halton region.
