As we approach the last day to drop on Monday April 6, faculty and staff may direct students to Student Advisement to discuss the implications of dropping a class or withdrawing from a program. Some of the discussion points with students include:
- Is the course a pre-requisite/co-requisite?
- What are the costs associated with re-taking a course?
- When will the course be offered again?
- Are there any financial implications (OSAP eligibility, 3rd party funding requirements etc.)?
- Are there implications of a students work/study permit?
- Will this impact participation on varsity teams?
- How will this effect co-op eligibility?
- Is the student still eligible to stay in residence?
Students who are unsure of the consequences of dropping a course may contact Student Advisement, the Office of the Registrar or their Program Coordinator/Academic Advisor.
Student Advisement is the first point of contact for information, help or advice and can assist with the following:
- provide information and general advice to students, faculty and staff
- explore student options, alternatives and develop next steps
- explain College policies, procedures and deadlines
- refer to other resources (academic contacts, or student support services)
