At President Jeff Zabudsky’s fall town halls an update was presented on the Sheridan People Plan, including progress to date and initiatives underway.  The People Plan will continue to be a focus for Sheridan over the next several years as we work toward our 2013-2020 Strategic Plan and invest in our greatest asset…our people.

Today we are happy to advise that President’s Council has approved revisions to the Tuition Reimbursement for Sheridan Employees Policy and funding program.  We hope these changes articulate our ongoing commitment to developing our people.  The revisions have been designed to make the program more accessible and equitable to employees while also meeting the requirements of our Strategic Plan.  These changes are directly aligned with our goal to “Build Our Reputation as a Leading Employer”, and provide enhancements to our Total Rewards programs.

Highlights of policy changes:

  • Three existing policies (administrative, support staff and faculty) have now been amalgamated into one policy entitled Tuition Reimbursement for Sheridan Employees Policy;
  • Deadline dates have been revised based on feedback received from employees.   Applications will be due on the second Monday in June and the second Monday in November of each year;
  • Employees who are already enrolled in  an eligible degree program (or diploma/advanced diploma for Support Staff) are now able to apply to receive funding for their remaining  courses;
  • For new applications, proof of admittance to the program must be submitted with the funding request;
  • Managers will continue to be involved in providing endorsement documentation and will be asked to demonstrate how the request supports an employee’s position/developmental path, PEQAB requirements and/or Sheridan’s Strategic Plan and policies.
