To support the work of Program Coordinators and Academic Advisors, Student Advisors, from the Student Advisement Team in Student Affairs are also a resource to students with an Academic Probation standing.   Student Advisors conduct developmental advising sessions with students: in person, by phone and by email.

Developmental advising sessions for Academic Probation students include (however, are not limited to):

  • a clarification of the Academic Probation standing, probation requirements and possible implications
  • a discussion about available options (i.e. program change)
  • referrals to appropriate on-campus supports and services
  • an individualized action plan, with a strategy for student success

These conversations with students are designed to listen to the student’s situation, answer their questions and discuss possible supports and strategies.

Students with a May Not Continue standing may also benefit from a developmental advising session.   Student Advisors listen to the student’s situation, discuss possible options and outline next steps in a tailored action plan.   As a starting point, students with a May Not Continue standing may be referred to the following virtual URL: manageyouracademics.sheridancollege.ca.

Student Advisement is open Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm. We are located in the Student Service Centre, Room B230 at Davis, Room B104 at Trafalgar, and at the Welcome Desk at HMC. After hours, students and staff are welcome to e-mail questions to askanadvisor@sheridancollege.ca

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Joanne Islip, Senior Student Advisor – Student Advisement at x2164 or joanne.islip@sheridancollege.ca
