The Centre for Organizational and People Development is pleased to announce an exciting new course offering that will be featured this spring.

Through college wide focus groups, interviews and meetings, we collected feedback to help us identify what topics you were interested in.  Designed and facilitated by in-house Learning and Organizational Development practitioners, we are pleased to offer the first course titled “Dealing with Difficult People and Situations”.

Dealing with Difficult People and Situations

We all interact with a variety of different people in our respective roles. Whether they are an internal colleague, a client or business partner, a student or parent, this course will discuss not only the philosophy about dealing with the “difficult person” but also provide you with practical, easy-to-use skills and strategies for disarming even the most contentious personality. Through interactive discussions, activities, role playing and case studies, key modules will address:

  1. The nature and underlying issues of the “difficult person”.
  2. Discover your own “natural” way to responding to difficult situations and conflict. Learn how to adapt and flex your style according to the situation.
  3. Communication skills which help dilute or resolve antagonistic encounters.
  4. Strategies for improving difficult or challenging professional relationships.

Course information and self-enrolment is available through Access PeopleSher HR. The course will be offered as a full day as well as two half-day sessions (see schedule below). Each workshop will accommodate a maximum of 18 participants and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. More information about the course will be sent to you upon successful registration.
