Dear Sheridan Community,
As part of our continued support to faculty and students, Sheridan is committed to helping professors achieve excellence in the facilitation of student learning. We believe that student feedback on their learning experiences is an essential component in the process of supporting and improving student learning.
Consequently, we will be continuing the process of gathering feedback from all students for each course in every program through a Sheridan-wide course feedback survey. This information will assist us in confirming, improving, rewarding and enhancing the learning experiences of our students and faculty.
To do this, we will be using the survey questions that were developed over a number of years with faculty, administrators and students. All responses are confidential and all data including comments will be tabulated off-campus by the third party company which has extensive experience with several post-secondary institutions.
You can view the survey questionnaire at:
http://cci-research.ca/sheridan/instructions/paper_survey.pdf
All professors involved in administering the survey whether electronically or by paper, will be contacted directly by their respective Faculties with further instructions.
The Summer 2015 Course Feedback survey timelines are:
1) 7A: June 8th – June 26th
2) 7B: July 20th – Aug. 14th
3) Full Semester: July 20th – Aug. 14th
We are asking for your assistance in ensuring that the survey process goes smoothly, and that students understand we are interested in their feedback in order to improve their learning experiences. We know from feedback from our students as well as from research in this field that the support of faculty for the student feedback process is critical to its success. Therefore, we ask that you stress with your students that you are interested in what they have to say and that their feedback provides you with valuable information to help you improve the quality of their learning experience. Please encourage them to participate in the survey and assure them that you look forward to getting their feedback.
If you have specific questions with regard to the survey, please contact Mark Chapman, Director Institutional Research and Planning at mark.chapman1@sheridancollege.ca.
Thank you for your cooperation in making this activity successful for all of our faculty and students.
Mary Preece,
Provost and Vice President Academic
