A plaque was unveiled recently at Sheridan’s Skills Training Centre to acknowledge and celebrate a generous donation made by the Canadian Welders Bureau (CWB) in support of the Welding program at Sheridan. The CWB contributed $100,000 to enable upgrades and enhancements to the existing facility, and to support the future expansion of the program to a two-year Welding Diploma, to be housed at the new Skilled Trades building soon to be under construction at the Davis Campus in Brampton.

“We chose to partner with Sheridan because it is forward-looking,” said Doug Luciani, President and CEO of the CWB (and a graduate of Sheridan’s Welding program). He noted the growing shortage of skilled labour in Canada, which will only worsen as the current workforce ages. “We have thousands of clients, all of whom point to the shortage of skilled welders as their number one challenge. Sheridan’s new program, coupled with its investment in a great new facility, is a positive step towards helping to address this challenge.”
