This year’s winning art installation project for Temporary Contemporary is designed by Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky. The installation will be in the D-Wing at the Trafalgar Campus and will feature a glass-fronted case holding 720 donated analog wristwatches that will function as a public clock.
Each watch will be stopped at a different time with all possible hour and minute combinations displayed. Lights in the case are controlled so that only the watch showing the current time is lit.
The artists are requesting donations of watches from the Sheridan community to make this piece come to life. The deadline to donate is October 22. Watches can be dropped off at the Animation, Arts and Design Office (A100) at Trafalgar during office hours. More details about the specifications for the watch donations and other information can be found below or downloaded here.
This installation is a nice continuation of the theme of time from last year’s “A Clock Set to 24 Hours Into the Future” installation outside the B-Wing at Trafalgar.
To learn more about what inspired the artists, you are invited to attend a public lecture about the display at Sheridan on September 15. Lunch will be provided. More details here.
