Thank you to the many employees who have expressed a desire to see a Sheridan response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
Over the past several weeks, research and discussions have taken place to identify a reputable agency with which to partner. We are also working closely with the Sheridan Student Union to create a strategy that will be supported by our students, as our largest stakeholder group on campus.
Details about the Sheridan response will be made available shortly. Please be aware that Sheridan is not currently fundraising for this cause. For anyone interested in making a donation, we recommend that you channel your generosity through a registered charity such as:
- the Humanitarian Coalition which is collecting donations on behalf of Plan Canada, Save the Children, Oxfam Canada and CARE Canada ( http://humanitariancoalition.ca/our-appeals/syrian-refugee-crisis)
- the Canadian Red Cross (http://www.redcross.ca/donate/#selected-appeal-a0650cb6-ce29-4c40-b663-e749a0a9163f)
- World Vision (http://www.worldvision.ca/OURWORK/Our-Stories/Pages/Syria’s-Refugee-Children.aspx)
Donations made before December 31, 2015 will also trigger a matching donation from the Government of Canada (http://www.international.gc.ca/media/dev/news-communiques/2015/09/12a.aspx?lang=eng)
Thank you for sharing your concern with us and please stay tuned for details about our institutional response.
