The second meeting of the college-wide Mathematics Community of Practice will take place on Wednesday, October 28 from 10:30 am till noon at the Trafalgar Campus in Room S301.

This scheduling of this meeting will allow participants the opportunity to take part in a very relevant session at the Sheridan Scholars and Creators Conference (Agenda available here: http://sheridancreates.sheridancollege.ca/schedule-3) prior to the meeting.  Specifically of interest and relevance are the opening remarks and first session entitled “Sheridan’s Readiness for Innovation: Evidence of a Positive Shift in Mindset”, presented by Dr. Brett Richards and Dr. Gerard Puccio. The importance of the mindset of our mathematics students being one of the key points at this community of practice meeting.

The conference session begins at 8:30am with registration and breakfast immediately followed by the opening remarks and first session from 9am until 10:15am. Please be sure to register for the conference here: http://sheridancreates.sheridancollege.ca/register-3

The Mathematics Community of Practice meeting will pick up where this conference session leaves off with further discussions around mindset, with a focus on mathematics, as well as an examination of the seven mathematical processes.

To close out this meeting, the group will review and prioritize the ideas and recommendations which arose from the last Mathematics Community of Practice meeting.

The meeting will wrap up by noon to allow participants to enjoy the conference lunch and the afternoon sessions if they choose to.

Teleconferencing capabilities will be available for those who cannot attend in person. Contact Emily Brown at emily.brown3@sheridancollege.ca for more information about the meeting or for teleconferencing details.
