It is with mixed feelings that I share with you that Cheryl Snyder has decided to retire after 30 years of exemplary service to Continuing Education and to Sheridan.
Cheryl began her career at Sheridan in 1986 as a Training Consultant in the Training and Leadership Development division. In this position, she worked with business and industry to develop employee training plans, and handled the marketing and sales of Sheridan corporate training solutions. In January of 1988, Sheridan’s New Street campus opened in Burlington, and Cheryl transitioned into an administrative role, embarking on what was to become an enduring commitment to excellence in Continuing Education. She began as the Manager of Continuing Education at the Burlington campus, and then moved to the Trafalgar campus in 1994 to take on the position of Chair, Continuing Education for Halton. Cheryl subsequently accepted the role of Associate Dean in the newly formed Faculty of Continuing and Professional Studies in 2012.
Over the years, Cheryl has had the opportunity to be involved in every operational initiative that involved Continuing Education from records, registrarial, business process, and systems, as well as academic and customer service functions. She has worked at six different campuses and supported a wide range of students and faculty in hundreds of programs and courses.
On a personal note, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Cheryl and have valued her strategic input, her wealth of experience and knowledge, and her thoughtful suggestions and insights. FCAPS has much to thank her for, and I know that she has helped the Faculty move forward immeasurably in just the last few years. While her departure is an immense loss for the Faculty, I wish her the very best as she launches the next chapter of her life adventure. I know you will join me in congratulating Cheryl on her retirement.
Cheryl will be retiring effective May 31st, but her last day at the College will be Friday April 15th. We will have an opportunity to wish her the best in person at a farewell drop-in event later in April (details will be communicated soon).
