Join Sheridan’s Broadcast Journalism students as they showcase their documentary films!
These inspiring films illustrate great courage by the students as some of them share their very personal journeys. They provide eye-opening and valuable insights into their personal experiences, situations and struggles:
- “Female, Black and HIV+” is a film documenting Muluba Habanyama ‘s life, finding out she is HIV +, her decision to not hide her disease and in turn inspiring others as she speaks out against the stigma of being HIV+.
- “No Note”, documents another student’s journey in coming to terms with her brother’s suicide.
- “Dying to Survive” is a film about a student coming to understand the motivation behind her father’s decision to have their family leave Sri Lanka and the terror of the Tamil Tigers.
- “After the Call” is a powerful short film that looks at the emotional challenges first responders face through the experience of a paramedic.
- “Surviving Myself”chronicles a student’s struggles with anxiety
- “Blindsided” documents the story of an inspiring young woman finding hope after becoming blind.
These six films will be shown between 7:00- 9:00pm on Tuesday, March 8th in S325 at the Trafalgar Campus. Please join us in celebrating these students’ inspiring work and for an open discussion with the filmmakers!
