Sheridan Professors Nominated for STLHE College Sector Educator Awards

lorraine_teresa_noms_embedSheridan is pleased to announce that professors Lorraine Cipparrone and Theresa Fraser have been nominated for the 2016 Society for Teaching and Learning’s (STLHE) College Sector Educator Award.  The College Sector Educator Award “differentiates itself from other teaching awards by focusing on recognizing those who have made quality efforts to promote and support the development of their peers with regard to teaching excellence.”  Lorraine and Theresa exemplify the spirit of the award as professors who are highly respected within and beyond their fields, and who have been recognized as both remarkable teachers and supportive colleagues.

Professor and Accounting Program Coordinator in the Pilon School of Business, Lorraine Cipparrone is an experienced educator whose leadership inside and outside of the classroom has had a remarkable impact on her students and the PSB.  Lorraine’s focus on mentorship, continuous improvement, and coaching has made her a sought after professor and peer.  Her commitment to enriching teaching and student excellence at Sh
eridan is evident in the numerous program and individual initiatives she has undertaken.  In the words of one colleague, “she goes ‘above and beyond’ to ensure that her fellow instructors are given the support and encouragement necessary to succeed in the teaching of higher education.”

Theresa Fraser, professor in the Child and Youth Worker program and currently seconded as a Curriculum Consultant in CTL, is described as a “team player and creative thinker with rare enthusiasm.”  Theresa’s remarkable diversity of education and experience is a tremendous resource for her students, her peers, and the CYW program.  She promotes and supports the development of her colleagues with regard to teaching excellence, technology, and lifelong learning.  In the words of one colleague, Theresa “is an extraordinary person who shares her strengths generously to ensure that those around her grow, thrive and reach their greatest expectations.”
