Sheridan’s Manager of Sustainable Energy Systems, Herb Sinnock, has been nominated for a Burlington’s Best Award by the City of Burlington. Herb has been nominated for an Environmental Award, which recognizes an individual or group that improved and/or protects Burlington’s environment.
At Sheridan, Herb is responsible for the implementation of the ambitious plan known as Mission Zero, which includes the Integrated Energy and Climate Master Plan (IECMP) and Zero Waste initiatives. This plan’s objectives include: using 50% less energy by 2020, generating at least 60% fewer greenhouse gas emissions, creating a campus-wide energy culture, and using Sheridan as a ‘living laboratory’ to develop competitive sustainability, and energy and climate curricula.
Herb and his team have been closely involved in planning for the new HMC building, which will be one of the top energy-performing buildings in North American and Sheridan’s new standard for building construction. Read more about the build here.
The award will be presented at the annual Burlington’s Best Awards evening on May 11, 2016 at the Burlington Convention Centre.
Congratulations on your nomination, Herb!
