Congratulations to the team of “A Different Way” on winning second place in the 2016 TVO Short Doc Contest. After 11 days of public voting on 10 finalists, TVO viewers have selected the first, second and third prize-winning documentaries for this year’s contest.
“A Different Way” is a short film on dating and disability from the perspective of Luke Anderson. Thirteen years ago, Luke went for a mountain bike ride that changed his life forever. As Luke began his new way of life as a wheelchair user, dating didn’t seem possible. “A Different Way” explores how Luke confronted his own fears and began to embrace personal relationships again.
The production team of “A Different Way” are currently all students enrolled in the Advanced Television & Film Program (ATVF) of Sheridan College. The documentary was created with the supervision of faculty members Zoe Dirse and Jean Desormeaux as a full term assignment in the ATVF program’s Documentary Film Production course.
