Sheridan is the recipient of four recent awards from the Canadian Public Relations Society of Canada (CPRS).
On May 31, Sheridan will receive the inaugural Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Award of Excellence, which will be presented at the CPRS National Conference in Toronto. The award recognizes the communications efforts of post-secondary institutions in promoting the benefits and impacts of social sciences and humanities research, such as their ability to help people across Canada to innovate, improve quality of life and build prosperity.
Sheridan earned this honour for its work to promote and support the Canadian Music Theatre Project/Theatre Sheridan production of Brantwood. Earning this inaugural award validates the legitimacy of the arts and arts education and the connection of music theatre to research. It acknowledges the role played by the performing arts to reflect and reveal society, advocate alternative perspectives, challenge assumptions and help bring meaning to society. The award is a credit to Sheridan’s students, faculty and guest writers and artists who exhibited an incredible commitment to this culturally significant undertaking.
At the end of April, Sheridan earned three Pinnacle Awards from the Hamilton Chapter of CPRS, which recognize the best of evidence-based, communications programs in any industry in Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Southwestern Ontario.
Sheridan earned three pinnacle awards, each attaining the minimum score of 85%. Recognition was earned for efforts to communicate and support last year’s Canadian Music Theatre Project/Theatre Sheridan production of Brantwood, last year’s integrated marketing, communications and alumni relations campaign celebrating our animation alumni Oscar nominees, and last year’s internal communications campaign called Dare to Care, which helped to roll out Sheridan’s new stand-alone sexual assault and violence policy and challenged the Sheridan community to build and sustain a culture of caring.
