In partnership with Sheridan’s Dare to Care Campaign, the Sheridan Student Union and Student Affairs, the Sheridan College Peer Mentor Program presents the first student – led Dare to Care event: Consent is as simple as Tea.
In accordance with the March 2015 Ontario legislation which stated that all post-secondary institutions were required to have a separate sexual assault policy, Sheridan launched the Dare to Care campaign. The campaign’s message centers on the awareness and education of sexual consent and the promotion of a community of caring and social responsibility.
Consent is Like Tea aims to engage Sheridan students and staff in conversations around sexual consent education and to encourage students and staff to talk about topics they care about during their Sheridan experience. This event is also an opportunity for Sheridan students and staff to become more involved in their school community and enrich their time at Sheridan.
This event’s purpose is to follow the college’s commitment in encouraging the Sheridan community to:
- model good citizenship
- facilitate a culture of caring and respect and
- contribute to a vibrant campus community
Throughout the event Peer Mentors will be serving tea and starting conversations on the importance of sexual consent and encouraging students and staff to think about what they “dare to care” about at Sheridan. Tea will be supplied by TbyDaniel, a local tea shop along with the Dare to Care, Draw the Line (Government of Ontario), #WhoWillYouHelp and Got Consent materials and emergency resources.
Join us for FREE TEA and learn about what consent really means – it’s simple.
