It is my pleasure to introduce Joshua Fortier as Sheridan’s Security Co-ordinator for the Office of Security, Parking and Emergency Preparedness. Josh brings a breadth of knowledge of security and law enforcement from his formal education and seven years of frontline and administrative experience in contracted security services.
Josh is an Honours B.A. Sociology/Criminal Justice and Honours Police Foundations graduate, and holds many industry designations including IAHSS Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), Incident Management System (IMS) 200, and Professional Parking Primer Certification (PPP).
Most recently, Josh served as Branch Manager for a contracted security services agency where he oversaw 200+ personnel at 34 client sites including health care facilities, financial institutions, and schools, and was responsible for developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). No stranger to the post-secondary environment, at Nipissing University Josh served as a member of the Student Union, including tenures as Vice President, President, and Administrative Assistant to the President, and was honoured with awards of service excellence, leadership, and innovation.
Since he started at Sheridan six weeks ago, Josh has taken the initiative to introduce himself to the Sheridan community and become familiar with all our campuses and security operations. Josh’s focus will be improving Sheridan’s security infrastructure and the performance of Campus Security through improved protocols and procedures. As well, Josh will work closely with Sheridan’s administrative departments at all campuses, including Student Affairs and Occupational Health and Safety, in conducting incident investigations.
