Eirik Murbraech (Level Designer) and Katherine Elliott (Art Lead) are fourth- year Bachelor of Game Design students completing their Capstone Project, entitled ‘5 Horsemen’. Eirik and Katherine visited Sheridan’s Screen Industries Research and Training (SIRT) Centre this past summer to do some testing for pipelines. After validating their animation workflow, they decided to return to SIRT recently for guidance in capturing motion for their final Capstone project. Currently they are in their pre-production stage where they are testing out their alpha build of the game. Their biggest challenge was giving their character personality and movements, and with the help of SIRT performance capture lead, Spencer Idenouye, they were able to do so. After capturing necessary motion capture data, Eirik polished their work using Optitrack Motive and Autodesk Motionbuilder software. This was a great opportunity for Sheridan students to engage with SIRT in completing their Capstone Project using leading-edge technology. Katherine brought her younger sister, Alison Elliott, who thoroughly enjoyed her first experience as a motion capture actor. After a semester of pre-production, they will begin finalizing their production in hopes of having their game completed by April 2017.
