It’s Week 7 already and the students are looking at the horizon and planning for this term, the Summer Term and beyond.  As midterms approach, Reading Week can often be the eye of the hurricane giving students a break before the next wave of exams and assignments.  It’s a good time for students get their bearings and adjust their study plans.

Student Advisement is available to students to help them navigate through their programs and student careers.  At the moment we are seeing students who are trying to decide how to best approach their workload.  Keeping in mind the March 31st deadline to drop courses without academic penalty, students are encouraged to speak with their instructors, Program Coordinators and even the Financial Aid Department when considering dropping courses.  Other students are coming in to plan ahead to take courses during the summer either at distance through Sheridan or other institutions or in class at their home campus.  Planning for the summer also brings graduation, summer jobs, internships and placement.  It can be stressful trying to juggle the current workload and planning for the future.  Student Advisement works with the faculties and the other support services to ensure that the students are well-informed about the paths available to them when planning for their success.

Let’s work together with the students to help them weather the storm and reach safe harbour.
