Background:
Launched in 1988 at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the date March 14 is an ode to the ratio of a circle’s circumference to it’s diameter which is 3.14. March 14 represents the 3rd month, 14thday, hence the connection.
Circles themselves are worth exploring. Used widely within the design aspects of STEM and STEAM sectors, circles are also used symbolically to represent creativity, innovation, inclusion, and social support.
So come out and join the fun, find out more about campus services, and get ready for some easy, yet skill-testing questions!
Pi Day is generously sponsored by Sara Lee Foods and supported by numerous student volunteers.
