It is with mixed emotions that I share that Sharon Aitken will be retiring from Sheridan on May 9, 2017.
Sharon’s career with Sheridan spans more than 16 years, during which time she progressed through several positions within the Advancement and External Relations team. In her current role as Director of Development and Campaign, Sharon was most recently involved in leading the efforts of the Get Creative Fundraising Campaign, working alongside the Campaign Advisory Committee to raise $9 million in private sector funding in support of the new building at our Hazel McCallion Campus.
Other notable accomplishments include:
- Confirmation from the Community Foundation of Oakville that Sheridan would be a recipient of the 2002 Great Dream Home Lottery proceeds – $250,000 gift to Sheridan
- Celebrating Sheridan’s 40th birthday at DreamWorks studio in Los Angeles with animation alumni and Sheridan faculty
- Creating the Graduate Success Story concept to increase alumni engagement
As a vocal ambassador for all things Sheridan, the connections Sharon has made throughout our communities will continue to serve us well, long after her departure. We wish her a long and happy retirement – it is well deserved!
Details of a reception in honour of Sharon will be communicated in a future edition of the Insider.
