Big data is a term that describes the massive volume of electronic data that inundates an organization on a day-to-day basis. Big data can be analyzed for insights that lead to informed decisions, operational efficiency and a more strategic outlook. Splunk is an industry leading software platform that can make big data usable, accessible and valuable.
As a member of CANARIE*, free Splunk eLearning is available to Sheridan studentsand employees until December 31, 2017. There are many courses available with Splunk eLearning.
The following are the four free courses available to Sheridan employees and students that satisfy the requirements for a Splunk Certified Power User:
- Using Splunk
- Searching and Reporting with Splunk
- Creating Splunk Knowledge Objects
- Splunk Infrastructure Overview

Registration Details
- Go to https://inter.viewcentral.com/reg/splunk/login to login or create an account (the account creation link is below the login button) Be sure to use your Sheridan email account (e.g. your.name@sheridancollege.ca) when signing up – if you use any other email account, you will have to pay for training.
- After logging in, choose the Search link that appears on the page
- Under the Delivery Method dropdown menu select e-Learning and click Search
- The Splunk e-Learning courses will be featured on the results page. Simply use Add to Cart the course(s) you wish to take—be sure the course price is displayed as CANARIE: $0.00 USD.
Please note the following:
- Courses can only be signed up for once and must be completed within 30-days of registration. (An admin fee will be charged to anyone who wants to extend the class)
- Courses cannot be repeated
- Courses are offered in English only
- This program will expire on December 31, 2017. Users who have registered for a module before this date will have a full 30 days to complete the course
