With the calendar having flipped to February and post-season play looming, it’s a big week for the Sheridan Bruins men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams.

On Friday, February 7, the basketball teams will host Mohawk in double-header action at the Davis Campus.  Mohawk swept the first meeting between the two sides in Hamilton in December, and it remains the only conference loss on the men’s team record.  Those two teams met in the OCAA Championship game last March and are battling for top spot in the West Division this year.

The women’s team is trying to climb the standings in the hopes of hosting a playoff game.  Both teams swept a pair of games at home against Cambrian over the weekend.  The double-header is scheduled to begin with the women’s game at 6pm, followed by the men’s game at 8pm.

Half of the proceeds from the gate will be donated to PLAY, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating the wellbeing of families living with autism by focusing on healthy lifestyles through physical education and the development of essential social skills.

The volleyball teams will then host St. Clair in double-header action on Saturday, February 8 at the Trafalgar Campus.  For the men’s team, it’s a critical game as they are battling with St. Clair for the final playoff spot in the West Division. They kept themselves in the hunt after a pair of wins over Boreal and Cambrian in Sudbury this past weekend.

While the women’s team has been eliminated from playoff contention, they are riding a two-game win streak and looking to close out the season on a positive note.  The women’s game is scheduled for a 4pm start, followed by the men’s game at 6pm.
