SPARK Conference

It was April 28 and we headed to Toronto Airport to the SPARK Conference at the University of British Columbia (UBC). We did not know what to expect, we had never stepped foot on Vancouver Island before nor had we ever participated in the Early Childhood Education conference at such a high level. The SPARK conference provided us with an opportunity to share our research project. It helped us to understand that the research we do in the capstone course is significant.

UBC

After arriving early Friday morning and grabbing a quick lunch we made our way to UBC Child Care Services for the pre-conference tour. It was the most beautiful experience we had ever had. Children and Educators being one with the natural elements of their environment, one word comes to mind, democracy.

After the tour we had the pleasure of a Q & A with Dr. Peter Moss – a world-recognized scholar in the field of Early Childhood Education studies. We presented our research poster Pathways to Advocacy and had high-level responses about the work we have done. It was our pleasure to engage in professional dialogue with our colleagues. It has been a once in a life time opportunity to experience passionate individuals working in the field to create positive change as well as to share our research. With that we would like to thank our professors in HBECL program who worked so hard to help our dreams come true.
