On Wednesday, September 27th, in a joint collaboration between the International Centre, Student Wellness and Counselling Services, as well as the Sheridan Student Union, Sheridan held the International Soccer Tournament at Davis Campus to engage international students in “the beautiful game.”
“Soccer—or football, as most of the world knows it—is not only a beautiful game, but a truly international language”, said Mike Allcott, Dean, International. “It transcends international boundaries, and it transcends social, economic and class divisions as well. It was great to feel the spirit of the game, the spirit of competition and friendship with Sheridan students from around the world.”
The tournament celebrated Sheridan’s international mosaic at Davis Campus on Wednesday, and at Trafalgar Campus on Friday. The matches promoted the benefits of getting engaged with fellow students in team sports. “Physical activity and social connections are not only important parts of the pillars of wellness but also help students build connectedness which supports students’ transition into college”, said Kevin Wilson, Associate Dean, Student Development.
