Sheridan Student Leadership Conference – February 26

Please tell your students about Sheridan’s first Student Leadership Conference planned by students, delivered by students for students on February 26, 2018 at HMC from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

The conference is FREE and open all students.  Registration is NOW OPEN! 

Student Affairs and the Sheridan Student Union are excited to provide our support to students as they share their ideas on leadership and learn how to get more involved and engaged in our Sheridan community. It is also an opportunity for students to build their employable skills through professional development (CCR Recognized).

Highlights

Keynote Speaker Michel Chickwanine 
Leadership Workshops A diverse range of topics to explore leadership styles, develop skills and build relationships
Networking Lunch Meet, mix and mingle with leaders from across Sheridan’s community
Closing Keynote Speaker Sheridan Provost and Vice President, Academic Janet Morrison

Students attending the conference will:

  • Explore leadership that includes the ability to identify the characteristics and competencies of effective leaders
  • Discover and articulate their leadership style, principles, skills and preferences and how to use this information to support their personal and professional development
  • Understand how individuals with differing leadership styles can work together effectively and collaboratively
  • Practice the skill of networking with members of Sheridan’s leadership community to learn how they can become more engaged community leaders
  • Learn how to get more involved within their community and make a positive contribution, which includes building collaborative and trusting relationships with their peers
  • Participate in self-reflection exercises designed to enhance personal growth
