Sheridan’s Creative Campus Galleries and the Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support are proud to announce that Jeff Thomas will be the featured speaker for the final session of their weekly Lunch and Learn series, which has focused on contemporary Indigenous discourse through screenings and guest speakers over the past three months. These events are presented in conjunction with the exhibition Jeff Thomas’ Indians on Tour: Exploring Indigenous Experiences, which features select photographs from his Indians on Tour series. The exhibition is currently on display in the Creative Campus Galleries at the Hazel McCallion Campus and will close the end of this week.

Who:
Jeff Thomas is an urban-based Iroquois, self-taught photo-based artist, writer, public speaker and curator. His artwork is featured in major collections in Canada and internationally, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, National Gallery of Canada, and the British Museum. In 1998, he was awarded the Canada Council’s Duke and Duchess of York Award in Photography, and inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Art. In 2008 he received the Karsh Award in photography, and in 2017 received a REVAL Indigenous Art Award. Art historian Lynda Jessup writes that Thomas is “nationally recognized for his groundbreaking scholarship and innovative practice … at the intersections of Native and non-Native cultures.”
