HR: Employee Relations and Talent Acquisition Staffing Announcements

I am thrilled to announce that Gurleen Lamsar has accepted the secondment of Talent Acquisition Specialist backfilling Virginia White while she is on maternity leave (effective April 30 until July 2019). In this position, Gurleen will provide strategic and operational expertise, guidance and support to leaders to ensure that Sheridan is identifying, engaging and hiring top talent. She will also provide support to employee and labour relations processes related to staffing projects and initiatives, and collaborate with HR colleagues on other departmental projects.

She started in the HR Assistant position in January 2013, then supported the centralized part-time recruitment initiative before assuming the role of Employee Relations Specialist. She also previously held a secondment in the Talent Acquisition Specialist role in 2016.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies, Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management, and has the CHRP designation.

Secondly, Tracey Seed has accepted the secondment to backfill Gurleen as Employee Relations Specialist. In this role, Tracey will support employee and labour relations processes and initiatives by providing process coordination, research expertise and collaboration with HR colleagues on departmental projects.

Tracey started her career as a Legal Assistant prior to joining Sheridan as a Talent Acquisition Assistant on coop. Tracey then went on to OCAD University as an HR Assistant where she coordinated the recruitment process and provided HR administrative support to HR leaders and the OCAD community. In June 2017, we welcomed Tracey back to Sheridan as Talent Acquisition Coordinator.

Tracey holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management.

Finally, Maryam Haseeb will be returning to the Talent Acquisition team backfilling Tracey as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator. In this role, she will coordinate the full cycle recruitment process for full-time support staff vacancies and the part–time faculty hiring process. Maryam joined the department in the TA Assistant position in January 2017 and for the last several months, she has been working as an HR Assistant for the Brampton Multicultural Community Centre, where she branched out into all areas of HR, still focusing on talent acquisition.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in International Studies and Legal Studies, and the Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management.

Please join me in congratulating Tracey and Gurleen, and welcoming back Maryam!
