The Pilon School of Business (PSB) and Sheridan’s Alumni Office welcomed over 200 students and 20 alumni to the Hazel McCallion Campus on April 5, 2018. The PSB Business Conference was focused on promoting the sharing of ideas, networking and preparing students for entering the job market. Sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada and Candybox Marketing, the event included an exciting line-up of keynote speakers, program specific breakout sessions, and networking opportunities.
The keynote speakers, both Sheridan alumni were, Darrell Keezer and Nicole Moore. Darrell is the CEO and Founder of Candybox Marketing and spoke about digital marketing; encouraging students to seek innovation and be disruptive. Nicole is a registered nurse and inspirational speaker, gave the second keynote talk about her life-changing experience as a shark attack survivor.
In-between the main talks, participants were able to attend breakout sessions, which included: Personal Branding with Stephen Sills, Human Resources with Lea Romanelli, and Fostering Innovation with Faraz Ahmadpour.
The Career Centre also hosted a networking boot camp, giving students tips and ideas about how to create opportunities for networking and how to approach potential connections.
One of the main highlights of the event planning process was the involvement of 60 business students from Professor Victoria Renton’s Professional Edge class. They assisted with the planning, promotion and execution of the event. Their hard work and dedication contributed to the success of this first-time event.
