On June 28, staff from all around Sheridan will be able to participate in the second annual Sheridan International Professional Day (SIPD) at the Conference Centre at the Trafalgar Road Campus. This is a unique opportunity for people across Sheridan to learn about the needs and interests of our international students. You will be able to share your experiences, add tools to your toolkit, and gain insights to build Sheridan’s global inclusivity.
In order to engage our students where they live and reinforce their learning experience at Sheridan, the theme of this year’s SIPD is “Connecting to the International Digital Generation.” Thanks to Ian Marley, VP Student Services and Information Technology and Janet Morrison, Provost and VP, Academic, we will be hosting keynote speaker Jake Hirsch-Allen. Jake is the Higher Ed Lead of LinkedIn Canada/Lynda.com, who teaches global health at McMaster University and works to further LinkedIn’s vision of creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.
The one-day event will consist of 16 conference-style breakout sessions. Topics will cover new digitalized training modules for students and staff, as well as mobile services for international students. There will also be sessions on Strategic Enrolment Management, International Orientation linkage with College-Wide Orientation, admission process update, etc. We will also include some new topics such as Mental Wellness and Human Rights for international students. As part of the Sheridan’s strategic internationalization process, Mike Allcott, Dean, International will facilitate a workshop on “Intercultural Intelligence.”
With the support of Sheridan Centre for People and Organizational Development (CPOD), we will launch the online registration of this PD event through CPOD website. We will announce the registration time as soon as the link has been activated.
