BBOT winners

At the Brampton Board of Trade’s Business Excellence Awards event, held on May 10th, Sheridan was presented with the Innovation Award in recognition of our Integrated Energy and Climate Master Plan (IECMP). The District Energy Centre at the Davis Campus is a key component of the IECMP, and a showcase of modern systems for the simultaneous production of thermal and electrical energy.

The nomination noted that Sheridan, through its work with the District Energy Centre, “has positioned itself as a practice-what-you-preach member of the Brampton business community. By expanding its thermal systems beyond its campus borders, thus developing a local ‘thermal node’, Sheridan is acting as an early adopter/endorser towards the establishment of a more prolific (and highly efficient) thermal utility for all Brampton-based companies to utilize for heat sourcing/ejection.” Sheridan has launched discussions as to how relevant facilities can be connected to this thermal node, with a long term view to achieving a more sustainable Brampton.

In accepting the award, Herb Sinnock, Manager, Sustainability Energy Systems, said: “Any postsecondary institution is, by necessity, a reflection of the community to which it belongs. Graduates and students influence the culture and growth of the community, and the community defines the character and culture of the institution in ways that serve its long and short-term interests and needs.”

Herb Sinnock wins BBOT

Congratulations to Herb and his team for this well-deserved honour.
