Sheridan’s Community Employment Services, funded by the MAESD to provide a local Employment Ontario (EO) Employment Services to Oakville & Brampton communities is also supporting Sheridan students and graduates in many ways. A new initiative has been developed on SLATE, called the Community Employment Services Virtual Community (VC), in which all students/staff/faculty/alumni can access local labour market information and job search supports. This VC was piloted with the Skilled Trades programs in March and April and was a huge success in supporting the students’ transition from the classroom to the workforce.
Students can access and register for:
- Community Employment Services’ 1:1 job search and job development/matching supports, workshops and job board
- Upcoming job fairs and hiring event schedules
- Resume Writing, Job Search Strategies, Labour Market Information, Interviews, Employment Standards & Labour Resources, Skills Development & Learning resources, samples and media
- Faculty-specific modules, in which content can be shared and module can be tailored for each academic office
For more about the virtual community and/or to register yourself/colleagues/students please contact Edwyna Irwin directly at edwyna.irwin@sheridancollege.ca or at ext. 8145.
All users registered on the Community Employment Services Virtual Community (VC) will be entered into a draw for several great prizes!
