On Thursday, October 4, Sheridan’s International Centre, Alumni Office and EDGE Entrepreneurship Hub partnered to create “Startup Stories: From International Student to Canadian Business Success,” an event which connected international students and graduates with alumni who’ve successfully founded businesses in Canada.
The interactive session provided an opportunity for networking, and a chance to hear about the challenges and rewards of starting a business.
“We’ve always had a great experience with Sheridan alumni giving their time to mentor students interested in entrepreneurship,” said Renee Devereaux, Manager, Entrepreneurship and Changemaking. “The guests we had for Startup Stories were generous with their experiences and helped shed light on the unique opportunities and challenges for international student entrepreneurs.”
The International Centre, Alumni Office and EDGE Entrepreneurship Hub would like to thank the following international alumni for participating:
- Eder Backes – Project Management ’15
- Amarinder Gill – Advertising ’10, Communications Management ’16
- Omar Juda – Visual Merchandising Arts ’13
- Ganesh Neelanjanmath – Project Management ’11
Stay tuned for Startup Stories 2.0 on Thursday, February 7, where international students will learn more about local entrepreneurship resources and hear from experts on legal and immigration requirements for new entrepreneurs.
