We would like to remind everyone of Sheridan’s obligations to adhere to the Ontario Fire Code.
The Ontario Fire Code states:
- Means of egress shall be maintained in good repair and free of obstructions.
- Combustible materials shall not accumulate in any means of egress.
Sheridan’s hallways are means of egress and therefore must remain clear. No items can be placed in hallways including tables, banners, easels or other temporary free-standing signage.
In rare cases, Sheridan may seek fire department approval for temporary exemptions. Recently, exemptions were approved by the fire departments for Sheridan’s Open House. We realize this is a significant change from past practices and we are here to help.
