Congratulations to Applied Computing faculty Dr. Tarek El Salti, Mark Orlando and Simon Hood, as well as their research students Gerhard Knelsen, Melanie Iarocci, Zachary Lazzara and Yongmei Xie for their impressive success at the IEEE 9th Annual Information Technology, Electronics & Mobile Communication Conference (IEMCON).
The team, which included Ryerson University Professor Isaac Woungang and TELUS industry partner Joseph Chun-Chung Cheung, won the ‘Best Paper Award’ at IEMCON 2018 for their research on Indoor Location Services. The annual conference took place at the University of British Columbia from November 1 – 3.
IEMCON is an opportunity for researchers, educators and students to deliberate and explore issues, trends, and developments in IT, Electronics and Mobile Communications; it’s a forum to bridge the gap between academic research, industry initiatives, and governmental policies between academia and industry.
