Congratulations to two members of the Sheridan community who have been nominated for the Colleges and Institutes Canada Awards of Excellence Program.
Katie Rinas, Facilities Projects Technologist at Sheridan, was chosen as the college’s nominee for Leadership Excellence (Non-Managerial Staff).
Since joining Sheridan in 2013, Katie has enthusiastically embraced the most complex facilities projects within Sheridan’s award-winning Integrated Energy and Climate Master Plan, a major component of Sheridan’s Mission Zero commitment. Her exceptional devotion to her work has largely contributed to the extensive recognition Sheridan has received from several external bodies as a global leader in energy efficiency and carbon mitigation, positioning the college as a highly sought-after resource for other institutions seeking to engage in strategic energy management.
Cory Haslett, Sheridan student and Sheridan Student Union Vice President, was chosen as the college’s nominee for Leadership Excellence (Student).
Having served as a Peer Mentor, Sheridan Student Union leader and member of eight committees at Sheridan, Cory’s contributions to the community have tremendously enriched the student experience and on-campus culture here at Sheridan. Cory demonstrates unwavering devotion to their community by ensuring support systems and inclusive resources are accessible for all. Cory also plays a vital role in developing gender and sexual diversity training for Sheridan faculty, staff and students and constantly seeks positive collaboration with their peers.
Congratulations on your nominations, Katie and Cory. We wish you the best of luck and will be listening with great anticipation when the award winners are announced in February 2019.
