Invitation to Apply for the Women’s Campus Safety Grant

We are seeking proposals from employees and students on initiatives that will enhance safety and security on our campuses, including measures to address sexual violence and harassment. Funding in support of such initiatives is provided annually by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Project proposals should focus on either awareness/education, or services/supports. Past examples of such projects at Sheridan supported by the fund include:

  • Bringing speakers on campus for presentations associated with the ‘Dare to Care’ anti-sexual assault campaign;
  • Hosting a Foundational Violence Risk Assessment & Management training session for faculty and staff;
  • Installing ‘easy buttons’ hardware for quick launch of the emergency notification system;
  • Upgrading video surveillance cameras; and
  • Purchasing radios for new SafeWalk employees

If you have an idea for an educational or service-based initiative that would contribute to safety and security on campus, we would love to hear it! You’ll need to provide a detailed proposal for your project, along with budget requirements. Additional information on the Grant can be found on page two of the Funding Application. Please fill out the funding application form and send it with your proposal to campus.safety@sheridancollege.ca. Proposals may be submitted anytime until January 18, 2019 and will be reviewed upon receipt by the Women’s Campus Safety Council.

Questions may be directed to campus.safety@sheridancollege.ca.
