The Sheridan Canada Career Month Team would like to thank the hundreds of Sheridan students, staff, and faculty members who participated in the recent national Canada Career Month, which ran for the month of November.
This year’s initiative focused on building resiliency by identifying personal strengths and resources to help build success. Throughout the month, Canadians shared their skills on social media using the hashtag #iknowicanbecause. The 2018 participation rates were record-breaking with over 650,000 social media impressions documented nationally. Sheridan’s team, which consisted of Career Services-Student Leadership and Engagement, Community Employment Services, Co-op Education, Library Services, Sheridan Student Union, Pilon School of Business, and Sheridan’s Marketing team, substantially contributed to those numbers.
Additionally, throughout November, our campuses were bustling with hundreds of students participating in weekly Peer Mentor educational outreach activities, career awareness activities, Career Hacks workshops, employer recruitment sessions and class visits, and the Biztech Career Fair.
Below are a few excerpts of resiliency comments from Sheridan students:
I know I can because…
- I have belief in my abilities.
- I work hard and have faith.
- Anything is possible!
Thank you from the Career Education team and have a safe and happy holiday!
