It is with great pleasure that I announce some exciting changes in the Facilities team, effective January 21, 2019.

Senior Manager, Campus Planning

Firstly, I’m very happy to announce that Pitsa Davey has accepted the new position of Senior Manager, Campus Planning. In this role, Pitsa will be overseeing the development and implementation of the new campus master plan as well as leading a number of strategic projects to strengthen the planning and development of our built environment.

Pitsa is currently Manager, Major Capital Projects and has been with Sheridan since 2011 in both Facilities and IT in a series of progressive roles. Pitsa brings a wealth of experience in the planning and implementation of projects in the public and private sectors along with a knowledge of institutional design and construction processes. Throughout her time at Sheridan, Pitsa has proven her ability to excel in taking on new challenges and effectively manage change. Pitsa is well known for her strengths in relationship building and managing competing priorities, which will serve her well in this new role.

Manager, Space Planning

Secondly, I’m delighted to announce that Cathy Sloat will be joining the Facilities team as Manager, Space Planning and will report directly to Pitsa. In her new role, Cathy will be responsible for short-term and long-term space planning, reviewing space utilization, and developing standards for the institution. Cathy will also support the work of the evolving Space Planning Committee.

Cathy has been with Sheridan since 2011 and has progressed through a number of roles to her current position of Manager, Security Infrastructure and Parking Operations. Cathy brings a strong background in planning and organization, with a wide breadth of experience in private and public sector organizations. Cathy’s strengths in problem solving and collaboration and her knowledge of Sheridan as an institution will be a huge asset to the Facilities team.

Manager, Finance and Business Services

It is also with great pleasure that I announce a new member of the Facilities team, Colm Lynn, who will be joining Sheridan on January 21, 2019 as Manager, Finance and Business Services.

Colm will be a key member of the Facilities team, responsible for providing financial guidance, monitoring, reporting on budgets and providing leadership around controls and process management. Colm will play a significant role in developing information to inform the transition to an Activity Based Budget (ABB) model.

Colm is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 15 years of experience in finance, strategy, business processing and team leadership.  Colm held the position of Manager, Finance and Business Services with the City of Burlington Transit Department where he led a team responsible for significant operating and capital budgets, data analytics, planning, IT, marketing and customer service. One of Colm’s many successes while with City of Burlington was to complete a strategic review which resulted in the City’s largest ever investment in transit.  Prior to joining the City of Burlington, Colm held senior financial analyst roles at the Town of Milton,  City of Guelph, Halton Region and Waterloo Region District School Board.

Colm holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Laurentian University, a Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Guelph, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Accounting from Oxford Brookes University as well as certificates in project management and employment law. Colm is also a certified Lean Six Sigma green belt.

Please join me in congratulating Pitsa and Cathy and welcoming Colm to the Facilities team!
