Sheridan Student Leadership Conference 2019!

SLC posterPlease tell your students about Sheridan’s 2nd Annual Student Leadership Conference, which will be taking place on Monday, February 25 at HMC from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The exciting conference is planned by students, delivered by students, for students. The conference is FREE and open to all students.

Student Affairs and the Sheridan Student Union are excited to provide our support to students as they share their ideas on leadership and learn how to get more involved and engaged in our Sheridan community. It is also an opportunity for students to build their employability skills through professional development (CCR Recognized).

Registration is now open! Please spread the word and encourage your students to register today!

Highlights:

  • Keynote SpeakerDrew Dudley, leadership author and capacity builder. His TEDx Toronto 2 talk was selected as one of the most inspirational TED Talks of all time.
  • Leadership Workshops: A diverse range of topics to explore leadership styles, develop skills and build relationships
  • Networking Lunch: Opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with leaders from across Sheridan’s community
  • Closing Keynote Speaker: Hear from Sheridan’s President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Janet Morrison

Students attending the conference will:

  • Explore leadership, including being able to identify the characteristics and competencies of effective leaders
  • Discover and articulate their leadership style, principles, skills and preferences and how to use this information to support their personal and professional development
  • Understand how individuals with differing leadership styles can work together effectively and collaboratively
  • Practice the skill of networking with members of Sheridan’s leadership community to learn how they can become more engaged community leaders
  • Learn how to get more involved within their community and make a positive contribution, including building collaborative and trusting relationships with their peers
  • Participate in self-reflection exercises designed to enhance personal growth
