More than 1,000 students were brought together in the Davis Campus Gym on Friday, January 18 to celebrate the spirit of the Sheridan community. The International Welcome Festival is now a Sheridan tradition that brings people together from across the institution to demonstrate the warmth and inclusivity of our campuses.
“The new international students’ pride in belonging to a vibrant Sheridan global community was palpable,” said Mike Allcott, Dean, International. “While the Davis gym was filled to capacity, we wished that all of Sheridan could have joined us in listening to music both familiar and new, eating poutine or hot chilis for the first time, learning to say ‘Miigwech’ in Ojibwe or ‘Добрий день’ in Ukrainian, or dancing in a Gujarati garba that encircled the entire room.”
The International Welcome Festival included cultural performances, dancing, songs and engagement opportunities which helped instill a sense of belonging in our community’s newest members. Thank you to all of the support from Sheridan leadership, staff, students and community partners who made the festival a true success.
