Fees Refund/Reversal of Charges Appeal Policy

The Fees Refund/Reversal of Charges Appeal Policy for students was approved by PVP earlier this month. The Policy and Procedure, which take effect immediately, are posted on Sheridan’s Policy Server. Colleagues from the Office of the Registrar, Financial Services and International Services worked together on this comprehensive review.

This Policy replaces the previous Fees Refund Policy. The Policy has a mandatory review date of June 30, 2019, at which time it will be reviewed in light of changes to Tuition, Ancillary Fees and OSAP that were announced by the Ontario Government in January and take effect for September 2019.

Notable changes to the Policy and Procedure include:

  • Domestic and International students are covered under the revised Policy
  • Statement added to Policy and Procedure that compulsory ancillary fees (program fees) are refunded at the discretion of the Academic Faculty
  • Removal of stipulation that a student must remain in the same program of study for the $500 deposit to be transferred to a future term within the same academic cycle
  • Changes in nomenclature in Policy and Procedure
  • New Student Health Certificate replaces the Medical Certificate
  • Updated Application for Fees Refund/Reversal of Charges
  • Addition of refund processing timelines to Procedure

A communication will be posted in myOTR to bring awareness to students about the changes to the Policy and Procedure. Students are encouraged to speak with a Student Advisor if they have any questions.
