I am thrilled to announce that Kristen Nykanen has accepted the position of Learning and Development Coordinator in the Centre for People & Organizational Development (CPOD). Kristen will be joining the CPOD team on Monday, March 4, replacing Christine Wojcik (Randall) who is going on maternity leave in March.
In this role, Kristen will be the point of contact for Sheridan-wide professional development (PD) initiatives (e.g. PD Funding, Tuition Reimbursement, Sabbatical leaves, Sheridan Courses at a Reduced Rate for Employees, Scholarship Plan for Dependents). She will provide support in the development, coordination and implementation of in-house and offsite educational sessions, workshops, retreats and employee programs. She will coordinate Sheridan-wide events such as New Employee Orientation, Long Service and Retiree event and the Sheridan People Awards, and she will also be responsible for providing financial and budget support.
Kristen began at Sheridan in the Human Resources department as an HR Assistant in 2015 and is currently a Talent Acquisition Coordinator with expertise in full-cycle recruitment and supporting the Part-Time Faculty hiring process. She played an instrumental role in the implementation of the Standardized Part-Time Support Staff Recruitment initiative, which included facilitating training sessions for managers and staff.
She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History, a Bachelor of Education degree and the Post Graduate HR Management certificate. She also has obtained her CHRP designation.
Please join me in congratulating Kristen!
Thanks,
Dana Golding
