After 34 years of a long and varied career at Sheridan, Libby Simpson is retiring on March 31, 2014.

Libby began her career at Sheridan in 1979 as a child care worker and placement supervisor for the ECE program at the Trafalgar Campus Day Care Centre and is known to many staff as their child’s teacher. Libby also taught ECE courses in preschool curriculum (literacy, art, music and movement) for Continuing Education.

Libby was also an active member of OPSEU Local 245 for over 20 years and served as Steward, Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-President. Her involvement with OPSEU led to various committee appointments which included the Employment Equity Committee, the Provincial Employee-Employer Relations Committee, the Post-Secondary Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Committee, OPSEU Provincial Women’s Committee and the Ontario Child Care Coalition. Libby was also a participant in the United Way campaigns, and member and co-chair of Health and Safety at Sheridan. Her passion for equity led to working with others to develop Sheridan’s Peace Gardens, now the venue for the annual event commemorating the Montreal Massacre.

Over the last ten years, Libby has enjoyed working as a Records Specialist with the Office of the Registrar at STC. She is known to staff, faculty and students as caring, compassionate and always willing to help.

Please join the Office of the Registrar staff in wishing Libby all the best as she embarks on this new chapter of her life.libby3
