Domee Shi’s Oscar win and Sheridan’s renowned animation program are making headlines coast to coast!
Since winning the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film for her directorial debut, Bao, at the 91st Academy Awards last week, Domee – and Sheridan’s animation program – have garnered substantial media coverage.
Victoria Ahearn from the Canadian Press wrote a story about Domee and Sheridan’s animation legacy, which in turn was picked up by news outlets across the country, including The National Post, City News, The Brandon Sun, and The Edmonton Journal – just to name a few.
We couldn’t be more proud of our extremely talented alumni here at Sheridan. Check out the video coverage below from CBC, CHCH and CTV’s Your Morning!
There was also coverage on CBC Radio’s Here and Now and on CTV News Toronto.
Plus, The Globe and Mail published a feature-length piece on Sheridan alum and fellow Pixar story artist Trevor Jimenez, whose short film Weekends was also nominated for an Oscar. The moving piece explores Trevor’s childhood and his emergence into the animation industry. Read the full story here.
Congratulations are also in order for Sheidan alum and Emmy award-winner Craig Henighan (Media Arts ’95), who was part of the team to be nominated in the Best Sound Mixing category for his work on Roma.
Way to go, Sheridan grads!
