Students will benefit in bursaries thanks to a $100,000 partnership between members of the Sheridan Business Hall of Fame and the Masonic Foundation of Ontario. Sheridan students Veina Wang who is in the Global Business Management program, and Bryan McClatchie who is in the Marketing program were on hand to mark this significant gift at a celebration held last week at HMC.
“As a former student I know how important it is to have financial support to feel confident when pursuing education,” said Chris Galante (Business Administration Marketing ’84), a member of Sheridan’s Business Hall of Fame. “We have been blessed with success and it always feels good to give back. I’m very proud to be part of a group of people who can see the value achieved by working together to support our future leaders.”
The Masonic Foundation of Ontario also believes in supporting those in need, particularly youth. Part of the charitable organization’s current funding program mandate is to establish endowment funds at community colleges, so assisting Sheridan was a natural fit.
“We hope our donation encourages our youth and helps to add to Sheridan’s reputation for building the future leaders of our community,” said Melvyn Duke, Executive Secretary with the Masonic Foundation of Ontario.
With more than half of the student population seeking some form of financial assistance, donations like these from the community help them enjoy the innovative and creative learning they receive at Sheridan.
“The generous donation from the Masonic Foundation of Ontario and from members of the Sheridan Business Hall of Fame alumni has created an outstanding legacy of bursary support for our Sheridan students,” said Sharon Aitken, Sheridan’s Director, Development & Campaign. “We are grateful for this donation and hope it encourages other organizations to do the same for our students.”
