It is with mixed emotions that after 28 years at Sheridan, Carol Goodrow has decided to retire on June 30, 2014 to devote more time to family, community, learning and of course, music! Carol came to Sheridan in 1986 to teach courses in two programs while counselling part time.  She then joined faculty as a full time Counsellor in 1989.  Over the course of her career at Sheridan, Carol has contributed her talents in so many unique and wonderful ways, including:

  • 14 years as a Peer Mentor Supervisor creating educational programming & events;
  • 9 years on Sheridan’s Human Rights Adviser team assisting students & employees;
  • 7 years as the Counsellor affiliated with Animation, Arts and Design programs;
  • Utilizing her training as a Mediator to help others resolve conflict at early stages;
  • Working on many Sheridan committees; and
  • 6 years on the Executive of the Ontario College Counsellors group.

Carol is well known for her skill in helping students and employees with respectful approaches to solving problems, addressing relationship issues, improving health and achieving goals. She has fostered a collaborative work environment and developed strong collegial relationships across multiple programs and services. Most importantly, she has worked with literally thousands of students, helping them to achieve success at Sheridan!

We will be planning a get together to celebrate the beginning of Carol’s new journey with details to be announced shortly. I wish Carol all the best as she moves on to the next phase of her life, and thank her for everything she has contributed to Sheridan. You will be missed!
