Four weeks to go!
Mark May 20 on your calendar – this is the day the new version of the PeopleSoft SA/HR system is targeted to go live. This upgrade includes numerous enhancements to existing functionality, and introduces new capabilities that allow us to both improve our operations, and to enhance the range of self-service offerings for our students.
When will the system be down?
Thursday May 15, 7:00 pm to Tuesday May 20, 8:00 am
The project team will be moving the upgraded system into production over the May long weekend to keep service disruptions to a minimum. Please stay tuned for more information as we move closer to that date.
How does this affect you?
The system will be down and unavailable to all faculty, staff and students during the upgrade period.
The PeopleSoft Admissions, Student Records, Financial Aid, Student Financials, Contributor Relations and Academic Advisement, myStudent Centre as well as the PeopleSoft HR, Time & Labour, Payroll and Benefits systems will all be down.
Please begin to make plans to ensure business continuity during this period. Once the upgrade is complete you will continue to access the system via AccessSheridan as you did previously.
What else is affected?
Many third party systems and applications connect to PeopleSoft for student information. A few of these systems will also be down during the upgrade period such as the Coned E-store and Account Creation.
What is NOT affected?
Critical systems such as SLATE (D2L) will remain up and running during the upgrade period.
A complete list of third party systems and their disposition during the upgrade period will be communicated as we move closer to the upgrade period.
Why upgrade?
PeopleSoft is continually adding new features to the software. To take advantage of these features Sheridan needs to periodically apply updates to our system. This upgrade is significant, as it includes 5 years of new capability.
With this upgrade, the overall look and feel of the system will remain very similar to what you have been using to-date. The new features, however, will enhance a number of areas including communications, myStudent Centre, international admissions, transcripts, checklists, awards, graduating processing, and test scores.
You will hear more about the specific changes in the weeks ahead.
